DIY Falling Rose Petal Decoration from Beauty and the Beast!

Ever since I was a little girl, roses have been my favorite flower thanks to Beauty and the Beast. The tale as old as time is back again with the new live action version {look for exclusive interviews next week!} and to celebrate, I made this DIY Falling Rose Petal Decoration! The amazing part about this DIY is that the rose petal actually stays just like that and always looks like it just fell off the Beast’s rose. Read on to learn how to make your own!

Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite Disney movie. It’s responsible for many great quotes and has inspired some beautiful art- and it’s back! To celebrate the live action release, I made this DIY Falling Rose Petal Decor that would be perfect for a wedding centerpiece or even just a fun bedroom decoration! You could even make a couple for a birthday party!

1. Fill the jar with water beads. Fill it up to just below the neck of the jar, leaving a little room for your water. If you overfill it’s okay, just be careful because the water beads like to run away and are pretty slippery {don’t ask how I know} so they can make a mess.

2. Place your rose in the jar however you want it. I wanted mine to go just about all the way down, but left a couple of centimeters at the bottom to make it look like it was floating.

3. Cut some petals off of the second rose and place a few at the bottom. Since I used a pretty full rose for the main one, I only placed a few petals on the bottom to make it look as if the curse is still relatively new. {You’ll notice in the photos that I did this after the fact- I would definitely recommend doing it before you put the water in!}

4. Then, use a straw to carefully {remember, those water beads are tricky!} place the single floating petal where you’d like it. You can use the straw to position it exactly how you want it.

5. Fill your jar with water and watch your water beads “disappear”! You can make any adjustments to your petals or flower with your straw as needed, but again, be careful with the water.

6. Close up the lid and enjoy!

Now, this decoration will not last forever as these water beads are designed to release water to water plants. However, according to a quick web search I found that you can actually get them to last up to two years as long as you add water to them whenever they begin to shrink, which can start after about a month. I’ll come back and update with my own personal experience with this, but I just made this so I haven’t experienced that at all yet!

Don’t forget, you can see Beauty and the Beast in theaters next week, March 17th! Check out everything that’s been released about the movie so far in this post and come back next week for interviews with the cast and more.
