How To Make Air Fryer Berry Hand Pies
- Put 4 puff pastry squares on a cutting board. Cut a circle out of the puff pastry squares. I use these empanada molds but you can also use a small plate.
- Scoop berry filling on one side of the pastry. Leave an inch of pastry-free on all sides so you can seal the turnovers.
- To close the hand pies, brush all the edges with water, fold the pastry over the berry filling, and seal them. Use your fingers to press the pastry close or use a fork.

- Then brush the top of the turnovers with water and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 390℉/198℃ for 3 minutes. Then add the turnovers into the Air Fryer.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Check halfway through the baking time to see if the puff pastry is not baking too fast else reduce the temperature by 10 degrees.
- Take out of the Air Fryer and serve immediately.

Can You Make Berry Hand Pies Ahead?
Yes, berry hand pies are great to make ahead as you have several ways to store them. These hand pies taste great when baked fresh as the crust is warm and flaky.
When reheated you lose a little of this freshness but still great to make ahead.

How To Store Berry Hand Pies
You have several ways to store the hand pies. Before storing always cool them completely.
- Refrigerator – you can keep the hand pies in the fridge for up to 3 days. Keep them in an airtight container when you put them in the fridge
- Freezer – if you want to keep them longer put them in the freezer, my preferred way of storing them. Put them in a Ziploc Seal bag or in a food container. You can keep them for up to 3 months

How To Reheat Hand Pies
When you have leftover hand pies you can warm them again before serving. Hand pies can be consumed cold but taste even better warm
- Air Fryer – you can reheat your berry hand pies in the Air Fryer. Preheat the Air Fryer to 375℉/190℃ for 3 minutes then reheat them for 5 minutes or until warm
- Oven – preheat the oven to 400℉/200℃ and put the handles on a parchment-covered baking sheet. Reheat the hand pies for 5-7 minutes
- Microwave – you can reheat hand pies in the microwave but they will turn soft when heated in the microwave

Are Berry Hand Pies Vegan?
Yes, if you use vegan puff pastry, which is available in lots of stores, or make homemade vegan puff pastry these berry hand pies are vegan.
You do not need egg wash to sprinkle sugar on top of to seal the hand pies either. Just use water and the hand pies seal and have a sugar-coated top.
