Extreme Fudgy Peanut Butter Brownies

Also known as Buckeye Brownies or in some cases Marbled Brownies, Peanut Butter Brownies are fudgy brownies with either a thin or thick layer of peanut butter on top. Or sometimes it’s swirled through. Usually the ones called Buckeye Brownies (named after the famous Ohio candy) have the peanut butter layer on the top. Here’s a list of some of the peanut butter brownies I’ve tried.

Frosted Peanut Butter Brownies aka Lucy's Brownies

When I first posted this I had not tried the Joanna Gaines — Southern Living — Lucy’s recipe for Magnolia Brownies. Well, now I have. It’s a good one! Of the ones on this list it’s most like Dorie’s. Here’s the list.  The first and second both start with brownie mix and the last two are scratch.  So let’s get started.

Duncan Hines Brownies — Very Good!

The Duncan Hines Extreme Peanut Butter Brownie recipe is super easy and very good. To be honest, I didn’t expect doctored brownie mix peanut butter brownies to be that great, but these were surprisingly awesome.  At one point the recipe was on the Duncan Hines USA site, but now I can only find it on Canada’s site.

An Over the Top Brownie Recipe We Love

I will never get tired of these Marshmallow Krispie Topped Brownies. They’re a little over-the-top, but that’s fine by me.

Dorie Greenspan’s Brownies

No surprise here given the source. Dorie Greenspan’s Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie are excellent scratch peanut butter topped chocolate brownies. They deserve a new photo so I’ll have to make them again. Darn.

Base is Peanut Butter and Chocolate is on Top

And then there’s this one which I haven’t made in a while but is very tasty, Peanut Butter Marble Brownies.  These are different because the base is actually a peanut butter with a chocolate marble section baked in, and a chocolate ganache swirled through the peanut butter topping.

The Famous Magnolia Recipe in Loaf Pan Form

Here’s the link to theLucy’s recipe (pictured at the top). It’s a popular one here. I make a smaller batch and use a loaf pan.

There are a lot more where these came from, but the ones on the list were the first to come to mind..
