Ingredients:  

  • 1 cup lentils
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions: 

  • Rinse the lentils under running water until the water runs clear.
  • In the Instant Pot, sauté the onions, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  • Add the cumin seeds, turmeric, and garam masala. Stir for a minute.
  • Add the lentils, tomatoes, salt, and water. Stir well.
  • Close the Instant Pot lid, set to high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • Once done, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then do a quick release.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
