Yogurt melts are a great DIY alternative to store-bought melts. These are not stored the same way as the store-bought ones, since those are usually freeze-dried, but they are a fun snack your kids are sure to enjoy! They are made with real yogurt and fruits for a great source of healthy fats, potassium, and vitamin C!

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need to make these homemade yogurt melts:

Ingredients to make strawberry banana yogurt melts. See recipe card for detailed ingredients.
  • Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt is naturally thick and great to help the yogurt melts hold its shape.
  • Banana: Use a ripe banana for the best natural sweetness.
  • Strawberries: Use strawberries that are ripe, sweet, and not sour.

Step By Step Instructions

  1. Blend the fruits into a puree and add this to a bowl.
  2. Add in the Greek yogurt and fold it in gently until incorporated.
  3. Pour the mixture into a piping bag or Ziploc bag with a small cut at the tip and pipe out small dime-sized circles onto a parchment paper-lined pan.
  4. Freeze for at least 2 hours and serve!

Ingredient Substitutions

  • Greek yogurt: You may substitute the Greek yogurt with a dairy-free alternative, like coconut yogurt. Be mindful that coconut yogurt is not as thick, so you may need to fold in a little more yogurt with the puree in order to have a mixture that is thick enough to pipe.
  • Fruits: The banana, strawberries, and mangoes used in this recipe may be replaced with any fruits! Alternatively, you may use a jar of pre-packaged baby food puree.

Storage Instructions

Once the homemade yogurt melts freeze for at least 2 hours, transfer them to a large Ziploc bag, and store them in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Recipe Notes

  • This is a great snack for babies once they have developed the pincer grasp and are able to pick up small items with their index finger and thumb.
  • When serving, let the melts sit at room temperature for a couple of minutes just so they soften a little. This will ensure that they are not too cold/hard for babies, but they do melt naturally with natural heat from the tongue.
  • Do not leave these yogurt melts at room temperature for too long because they melt quickly! These are not an ideal snack for on-the-go.
  • You may also use frozen fruits which may help with the consistency of the mixture for piping!
  • I love using this nutribullet blender to blend the fruits into a smooth batter!
